A reputable public-sector organisation in the heart of Manchester City Centre is seeking an experienced and commercially minded procurement leader to join their growing team and lead the function.

The Head of Commercial Procurement will play a pivotal role in transforming the procurement function and leading them into becoming a more proactive, commercially driven business unit who genuinely partners with other areas of the business. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys autonomy and the ability to shape the direction of the procurement function whilst leading a small team. You will be working with senior level stakeholders across the organisation and providing procurement guidance and support to them.

You will be responsible for setting the overall strategy and procurement policies across the organisation and striving to deliver optimal value for money whilst adhering to procurement legislation. In this role, you will lead and motivate a small team, whilst personally leading on some higher value and more complex tender processes. The role offers a great mix of both strategic and operational procurement.

This role is based in the Manchester City Centre office 2 days per week, with 3 days working from home, though occasionally you may be required to be flexible depending on business needs.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Extensive background in UK public-sector procurement with a strong understanding of PA23 and PCR2015
  • Proven experience and knowledge of public-sector frameworks
  • MCIPS qualified or working towards
  • Experience of leading and managing a team
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence decisions and gain stakeholder buy-in
  • Contract management and supplier relationship management experience
  • Experience of planning and implementing procurement policies
