Overview

In this role you join a market-leading defendant insurance team focused on catastrophic injury litigation. You will handle high-value claims and work alongside senior specialists to shape strategy and outcomes. The role blends hands-on casework with close collaboration across partners, experts, and clients, offering progression through Solicitor to Senior Associate. You will contribute to delivering top-tier service on technically challenging cases, often involving brain and spinal injuries, amputations, and fatalities. This is a hybrid, supportive environment with opportunities to influence high-profile matters.

Responsibilities

  • Handle complex catastrophic injury and large loss claims (250,000+; up to multi-million values)
  • Draft pleadings, statements, and litigation documents
  • Instruct counsel, liability and medical experts and rehabilitation providers
  • Attend conferences, mediations, JSMs, and court hearings
  • Advise on litigation strategy, liability, causation, and quantum
  • Manage own caseload (where applicable) and support senior lawyers on complex matters
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships with insurers, corporate, and public sector clients
  • Support Partners and senior lawyers on the most challenging cases

Key requirements

  • Experience in serious/catastrophic injury or large loss claims (250k+)
  • Exposure to multi-track litigation
  • Experience with complex liability and quantum investigations
  • Defendant insurance litigation experience is essential for senior associate; strong claimant catastrophic injury experience considered for Solicitor/Associate
  • Excellent client management and communication skills
