Due to continued investment in innovation and product development, our client is seeking an ambitious R&D Engineer to join their engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys turning ideas into practical solutions, working on new product development, and driving continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.

Your New Role

As an R&D Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development and enhancement of innovative engineering products.

Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will be involved throughout the entire product lifecycle from concept generation and design through to testing, validation and production implementation.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Researching and developing innovative product solutions.
  • Supporting new product introduction (NPI) projects from concept through to launch.
  • Producing detailed 3D CAD models, drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Conducting product testing, analysis and validation activities.
  • Working closely with production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
  • Identifying opportunities for product improvement, weight reduction and cost optimisation.
  • Investigating emerging technologies, materials and manufacturing methods.
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities across engineering and production functions.
  • Ensuring all designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.

To be considered for this opportunity, you should possess

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in a design, development or R&D engineering role within manufacturing.
  • Strong 3D CAD skills (Solid Works, Creo, Inventor or similar).
  • Knowledge of product development processes and engineering testing methodologies.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes including fabrication, assembly or metal-based production.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
  • A proactive and innovative mindset with a passion for product development.

Desirable

  • Experience working within the automotive, transport equipment, agricultural machinery or heavy engineering sectors.
  • Knowledge of FEA, testing, validation or prototype development.
  • Familiarity with project management and continuous improvement methodologies.
