We are seeking an experienced Trade Finance Operations Specialist for a 6-12 month contract. The ideal candidate will bring extensive technical trade finance knowledge, exceptional accuracy, and the ability to support a fast-paced multi-product operations environment.
Role Summary
You will be responsible for processing and settling a broad range of Trade Finance transactions, supporting multiple business lines, and ensuring workflow efficiency. This role requires strong technical expertise, adherence to procedures and controls, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and settle Trade Finance transactions promptly, prioritising high-value and time-critical items while consistently meeting SLAs.
- Complete all internal reporting requirements accurately and on time.
- Identify and resolve errors quickly, escalating issues to the Head of Department or Front Office.
- Proactively cross-train and support colleagues to build a flexible, multi-skilled operations team.
- Ensure correct use of systems and tools and maintain strict adherence to Head Office and internal operating procedures.
- Maintain high levels of customer service and uphold the professional image of the Bank.
- Support strategic initiatives, operational improvements, and project work as required.
- Assist wider team with coverage across all products, including L/C document checking.
- Carry out compliance checks and apply relevant controls to mitigate operational risks.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Extensive Trade Finance expertise across Import/Export LCs, Guarantees, Collections, Discounting, Forfaiting, Confirmations, and Risk Participation.
- Strong background in Commodity Trade Finance.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UCP 600, ISP98, URDG 758, URC 522 and other ICC rules.
- Understanding of AML frameworks and the UK Proceeds of Crime Act.
- Awareness of UK and OFAC sanctions, including experience performing Restricted Counterparty and IMB checks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SWIFT Alliance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly at all levels.
- Strong organisational, analytical, and numerical capability.
