A leading global professional services organisation is seeking an experienced Systems Accountant to join its finance transformation and systems function on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Operating across multiple international jurisdictions, the business continues to invest heavily in finance systems, controls and data quality to support scaling operations and regulatory requirements.
Your new role:
Reporting to the Head of Finance Systems, you will play a key role in supporting, optimising and enhancing core finance systems across the EMEA region. This role sits at the intersection of finance and technology and will work closely with finance stakeholders, IT teams and external vendors to ensure systems are robust, well-controlled and fit for purpose. You will act as a subject-matter expert for finance systems, supporting month-end processes, system enhancements, control improvements and change initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the primary finance lead for core accounting systems
- Supporting month-end close from a systems and controls perspective
- Maintaining and enhancing system configurations, controls and workflows
- Leading balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring system-driven integrity
- Supporting system upgrades, implementations and change initiatives
- Translating finance requirements into system and reporting solutions
- Investigating system issues, data discrepancies and reconciliation breaks
- Partnering with Finance, IT and external vendors on system improvements
- Supporting audit and control requirements, including documentation and testing
- Delivering process improvements to enhance efficiency, automation and data quality
What you'll need to succeed:
Essential:
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Proven experience in a Systems Accountant or Finance Systems role
- Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations and close processes
- Solid technical accounting grounding (IFRS / UK GAAP)
- Experience supporting or delivering finance system changes or implementations
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment
- Confident communicator with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Advanced Excel capability
Desirable:
- Experience within large, global or multi-regional organisations
- Exposure to ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, Netsuite or Dynamics
- Experience with reconciliations tools (e.g. BlackLine)
- Exposure to SOX controls or formal control frameworks
- Background within professional services, consulting or complex service environments
