A growing and highly respected MGA operating in the UK commercial market is seeking a Senior Property & Casualty Underwriter to join their London-based Property team. The business is known for its collaborative culture, strong underwriting discipline and commitment to professional development. Due to growth within their Property & Casualty team, a position for a Senior Underwriter has arisen.

As a Senior Property & Casualty Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting complex new business and renewal risks across commercial combined, property and casualty lines. Operating with a high level of delegated authority, you will focus on profitable growth while establishing yourself as a trusted trading partner to a panel of brokers. In this role, you will manage and develop broker relationships through regular trading activity and face-to-face engagement, actively driving new business opportunities. You will take ownership of portfolio performance, analysing trends, monitoring loss ratios and taking corrective action where required to maintain underwriting discipline.

You will also act as a referral point for junior underwriters, providing technical guidance and mentoring to support their development. In addition, you will contribute to underwriting strategy, product development and the continuous improvement of underwriting processes, with the opportunity to progress into a leadership role as the business grows.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • You will be an experienced commercial P&C underwriter with a strong trading mentality and a desire for autonomy.
  • You will typically have significant experience underwriting commercial Property and Casualty risks, gained within an MGA or composite insurer environment.
  • The ideal candidate will be looking to make that step into a Team Leading position.
  • You will hold a minimum of Cert CII qualification and be willing to continue studying.
  • A strong technical understanding of commercial property, liability and commercial combined products is essential, alongside excellent negotiation and relationship-management skills.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues will be advantageous, as will progress towards Dip CII or ACII.

What you'll get in return:

In return, you will receive a highly competitive salary of 70,000 (D.O.E), along with a comprehensive benefits package and bonus. The role offers clear, structured progression toward an Underwriting Manager or Senior Management position within a supportive, fast-paced MGA environment.
