Hays is delighted to be partnering with a leading global financial markets trade association to recruit a Regulatory Analyst to join its Public Policy and Regulatory Strategy function. This is a unique opportunity for financial services professionals with experience in securities lending, securities financing, repo markets or wider capital markets regulation to join a highly respected industry body representing more than 280 member firms globally. The organisation works closely with policymakers, regulators, market participants and industry stakeholders to shape the future regulatory landscape of the securities finance market.
Reporting to the Head of Public Policy and Regulatory Strategy, you will play a key role in monitoring global regulatory developments, analysing legislative change and supporting industry advocacy initiatives across the UK, Europe, Middle East and other international markets. This role offers significant exposure to regulators, policymakers, senior banking professionals and industry leaders, providing a genuine opportunity to influence policy outcomes on behalf of the wider market.
The successful candidate will combine strong analytical skills with a practical understanding of securities financing products and enjoy working within a highly collaborative and externally focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess legislative and regulatory developments impacting securities lending, securities financing and wider capital markets.
- Conduct regulatory horizon scanning across key global jurisdictions, identifying emerging risks and opportunities for industry participants.
- Support the drafting of consultation responses, position papers, briefing notes and policy submissions.
- Research and analyse the operational and commercial impacts of proposed regulatory changes.
- Support engagement with regulators, policymakers, trade associations and other external stakeholders.
- Assist in the coordination of member working groups comprising senior representatives from leading financial institutions.
- Prepare research summaries, presentations and briefing materials for meetings with regulators and industry stakeholders.
- Support the development of thought leadership content, articles and industry publications.
- Maintain regulatory tracking tools, legislative timelines and stakeholder databases.
- Contribute to wider advocacy initiatives and strategic policy projects across the organisation.
Skills & Experience Required
- Essential Experience within securities lending, securities borrowing, repo, securities financing or related capital markets activities.
- Knowledge of securities finance products and market infrastructure.
- Experience gained within a product, regulatory, legal, operations, trading or market-facing function.
- Strong research and analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret complex regulatory developments.
- Excellent written communication skills with experience producing concise reports, briefings or policy papers.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build credibility with internal and external audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
