Formed as a split-off from a larger firm, our client is a boutique taking the London market by storm. The founding partners are all established and highly regarded Experts in their own right and wanted to create a firm which offers Big Four quality service with the flexibility and responsiveness that comes from a small, dedicated team. They have distilled the best of their experience into their MO for the new firm. Having made Partner themselves in the decade, they are well-positioned to mentor the next generation to becoming Experts in their own right.

If you're new to Forensics, it's worth pointing out that Expert work comes to the Experts themselves first and foremost. The brand/firm they work for is purely about delivery capability. So in Expert work, you really can have Big 4 quality work in a "small" firm package.

Your new role involves working on the full gamut of commercial disputes, especially in International Arbitration. Cases you could work on include:

  • Breaches of contract
  • Breaches of warranty
  • Valuation disputes
  • Accounting treatments
  • Investment Treaty disputes
  • Post M&A/transaction disputes
  • Contract review
  • Intellectual property
  • Shareholder / JV disputes
  • Funds & asset tracing

Within these, an example of what you'd be doing / training to do includes:

  • Performing financial, accounting and economic analyses
  • Performing business valuations from a contentious/litigious perspective
  • Drafting sections of expert reports
  • Communicating results as appropriate to the partners and clients
  • Interacting with clients and supporting business development activities including attending networking events

What you'll need to succeed:

  • This is a Disputes-lead practice, so if your interest in Forensics is purely Fraud/Compliance etc this is not the right role for you.
  • Newly qualified ACA
  • Enjoyment of the more inferential/judgemental/intangible elements of your assurance experience
  • Ideally some valuation sense-checking/assurance experience, or at least having to review clients' models
  • Highly personable - this is an outgoing, happy and professional team and personality fit will be important
  • Appetite to work in a new, still-growing boutique
  • A well-reasoned interest in Forensic Accounting

What you'll get in return:

  • Being part of a challenger/disruptor firm in the London forensic market
  • Learning directly from your Expert mentors
  • Big 4 calibre work without having to work in a Big 4 firm
  • Being part of a culture where everything will be celebrated as a team
  • Working with genuinely lovely people
  • Fully egalitarian approach to bonus sharing
