The organisation supports housing associations, local authorities, educational institutions, and other public bodies by delivering compliant procurement solutions for refurbishment, maintenance, and construction projects. Headquartered in the UK, the organisation has a nationwide presence and employs between 50 and 200 people. Its focus is on improving local communities through sustainable procurement practices, with environmental, social, and economic impact forming a core part of its strategy.

This position works closely with the Board and Senior Leadership Team to drive and enhance governance, risk and assurance practices across the organisation. The role plays a key part in ensuring robust decision-making, while leading the governance function and supporting its ongoing development to deliver an effective and focused service.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the governance function
  • Supporting Board and Committee activity
  • Overseeing compliance and data protection obligations
  • Developing organisation-wide governance, risk and assurance processes
  • Strengthening audit and assurance activity
  • Maintaining strategic and operational risk frameworks
  • Ensuring policies and controls remain effective and compliant

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience as a governance professional with a strong understanding of governance frameworks, regulatory requirements and corporate compliance gained within a regulated or non-for-profit environment
  • A proven track record of providing high-quality advice and support to Boards and Committees
  • Experience designing and embedding governance, risk and assurance frameworks at an organisational level
  • Expertise in internal audit, risk management and compliance
  • Relevant qualification (CGI) or experience
