We are seeking a highly skilled and reliable DT Technician to join a welcoming and well-resourced secondary school in Batley. This is an excellent long-term opportunity for a dedicated professional who is passionate about supporting outstanding teaching and learning within the Design & Technology department.
The successful candidate must have recent experience working as a DT Technician within a UK secondary school, having undertaken a similar role within the last two years.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare materials, tools and equipment for practical DT lessons.
- Maintain workshops and specialist teaching areas to a high standard.
- Support teachers and students across a range of DT disciplines, including Resistant Materials, Product Design, Engineering and Graphics.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained, serviced and stored safely.
- Assist with stock control, ordering and organisation of resources.
- Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs on machinery and equipment.
- Support the implementation of health and safety procedures within the department.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with current health and safety regulations.
- Provide technical support for practical demonstrations and project work.
Essential Requirements
- Recent experience working as a DT Technician in a UK secondary school within the last two years.
- Strong knowledge of workshop practices, machinery and DT equipment.
- Understanding of current health and safety legislation relevant to Design & Technology departments.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Desirable
- Experience supporting multiple DT specialisms.
- Relevant technical qualifications.
- First Aid qualification.
