Unrivalled opportunity to accelerate your expert journey in this challenger firm.

My client is a newly-formed breakaway boutique with a strong European presence. The lead Partner is a Global Elite Thought Leader in several Lexology categories and is recognised as a world-leading Expert in GAR. Cases by default are large and/or complex, spanning a wide variety of commercial and investor-state disputes, with the "sweet spot" being £100-500 million and up to the value of several billion.

With a background in major international firms, the lead Partner wanted to build a distinctive, independent firm for the next generation of Experts, operating in an agile and 21st-century manner. Business development includes thought leadership/publishing, carefully curated events with high-profile speakers, and one-to-one interactions. They are embracing the use of AI where appropriate, and models/packs have been developed from best practices in large, global firms. The Partners aim to dispense with formal hierarchies and bureaucracy, instilling a degree of freedom that is often absent in larger firms. Importantly, they provide a significant number of co-signing and co-testifying opportunities. With restrictions now fully lifted, they are ready to expand, focusing on responsible growth, primarily in the UK/London.

The firm is open to several levels - from Manager through to rising Expert/Director. This is a gilt-edged opportunity to obtain your first co-signing or co-testifying experience, as the Partners are keen to develop the next generation of Experts and have strong track records in mentoring Directors through to Partner. There is also potential room for an AD/Director who is delivery-centric in producing high-calibre reports and work.

Key components in your background will include:

  • ACA/CFA or equivalent
  • Pure-play track record as a forensic accountant in arbitration, commercial disputes, and quantum of damages, including some contentious valuations experience
  • At the more junior end, experience in drafting substantive sections of reports
  • Ideally, a background gained in larger firms
  • Quality of ideas
  • A second language (French or German being of especial interest) would be a bonus

What you’ll get in return:

  • Privately-funded, owner-managed firm: no PE backing as a conscious policy
  • Default remote-working policy, with plans to open a physical office space once at least 5 people are hired in London
  • Direct access to and mentorship from seasoned, elite Experts
  • Interesting, complex work which is often cross-jurisdictional
  • Working with and for top law firms and household name corporates/institutions
  • Be part of the next generation of Experts
  • Future Partnership firmly in scope for those with the ability and ambition to achieve this
