We are currently seeking an experienced Derivative Middle Office Contractor to join a high-performing operations team within a leading global financial institution. This role sits within a specialist derivatives support function, providing critical front-to-back trade support across a broad range of products.
The Role
You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of derivative trade flows across front-to-back systems. Working closely with Front Office, Technology, and external counterparties, you will help maintain a robust control environment and support ongoing business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and resolve trade flow exceptions across reconciliation platforms, ensuring data accuracy and completeness
- Manage system reconciliations, investigate breaks, and escalate unresolved items promptly
- Oversee trade affirmation platforms ensuring timely confirmation and alignment
- Support cleared derivative processing across CCPs, maintaining accurate trade and position records
- Liaise with Front Office to resolve queries and clearing-related issues
- Execute and manage OTC confirmations (both incoming and drafted) in line with internal targets
- Support portfolio compression cycles through vendor platforms and broker relationships
- Contribute to risk reporting and Key Risk Indicator (KRI) frameworks
- Drive process improvements and support system enhancements in collaboration with technology teams
Requirements
- Strong experience in Derivative Middle Office within an investment banking environment
- SME-level knowledge across products such as IR Swaps, FRAs, CDS, TRS, FX Swaps, NDFs, and Convertible Bond Options
- Proven understanding of front-to-back trade lifecycle, including trade capture, confirmation, clearing, settlements, and lifecycle events
- Experience supporting cleared derivatives via CCPs
- Hands-on experience with systems such as Murex, Markitwire, ION, Duco and trading platforms like Bloomberg or Tradeweb
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on risk and control
- Ability to manage high volumes, prioritise effectively, and meet tight deadlines
