We are currently seeking an experienced Java Developer (contract) to join our client's team and support the delivery of key projects. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on development experience and be confident working within modern frameworks, cloud environments, and agile delivery teams.
Your new role
- Develop, enhance, and maintain Java-based applications
- Build and consume RESTful APIs
- Work with Spring Framework to deliver secure, scalable services
- Implement front-end components using Thymeleaf and JSON data structures
- Contribute to application design following GDS themes and design principles
- Support microservices-based architecture and best practices
- Manage builds, releases, and CI/CD pipelines via Azure DevOps
- Implement and troubleshoot cookie/session management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile environment
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong commercial experience with Java
- Solid background in Spring Framework
- Experience with JSON, Thymeleaf, and template-based front-end development
- Proven ability to design and develop RESTful APIs
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (CI/CD, pipelines, version control)
- Knowledge of GDS design principles (must have)
- Understanding of microservices architecture
- Strong grasp of session and cookie management within web applications
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
