Are you a skilled Mechanical or Petroleum Engineer looking for a rewarding role supporting the UK Defence estate? Hays is recruiting for a Mechanical / Petroleum Engineer to deliver safe, compliant and efficient maintenance and project work across a major Defence site. This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll play a key part in ensuring operational delivery meets the highest standards of safety and performance.

What you'll do

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical and petroleum systems.
  • Support project delivery and ensure works are completed safely and on time.
  • Diagnose faults and implement effective solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with site teams and contractors to maintain compliance.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of works and adherence to safety standards.
  • Contribute to improvements and carbon reduction initiatives where possible.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering (Level 2 will not be considered).
  • Strong hands-on experience in maintenance and repair of mechanical/petroleum systems.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety standards and safe working practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • (Authorised Person tickets are desirable but not essential for this role.)
