Your new role
Teaching Assistants play a crucial role in the learning journey for pupils, offering support to the class teacher where they have groups or individuals in the class who need extra help or a more tailored approach. Typical day-to-day duties include:
- Liaising with the class teacher on the plan for the day
- Helping set up the classroom and organise relevant resources
- Supporting students on a 1:1 or small group basis once the lesson is underway, ensuring they understand their work and make the relevant progress
- Supporting pupils who are upset, anxious or struggling emotionally
- Assist with marking and record keeping
- Provide feedback to teachers and parents on pupil's progress and behaviour
- Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Monitor pupils during break times, lunchtimes, school trips and activities
- Ensure children remain safe and engaged throughout the school day
What you'll need to succeed
As well as your Level 2 qualification, you will also need a minimum of 20 days' experience working with school-age children in the last 2 years that we can reference. You will be patient and empathetic with good literacy and numeracy skills. You will be an excellent communicator and be able to work in a team to ensure each child gets the support they need to progress.
