The Opportunity
We are supporting a leading contractor delivering a nationally significant water infrastructure project in Oxfordshire. Due to continued progress across early works and construction activities, they are seeking a Site Engineer to join the project team and support the successful delivery of multi‑disciplinary civil and MEICA works. This is an excellent opportunity to gain long‑term exposure on a flagship UK infrastructure project, working closely with site management, designers, subcontractors and the wider delivery team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with site establishment and the overall delivery of the project, supporting site management and the wider project team as required.
- Support the preparation, implementation and maintenance of QA / QC documentation, including Inspection Test Plans, check sheets and site records.
- Carry out engineering duties using Total Station, GPS, CAT & Genny and other current survey and setting‑out equipment.
- Maintain accurate site records, including QA documentation, ITPs, survey and level data, concrete test results and as‑built information, highlighting any variances or issues.
- Support the management and coordination of subcontractors and the supply chain as directed by site management.
- Assist with design coordination and the distribution of technical and construction documentation relevant to site works.
- Hold specific site‑based responsibilities as required, including permits to work.
- Support effective coordination between site disciplines and subcontract managers to ensure works are sequenced and delivered efficiently.
- Assist with the completion and coordination of mandatory and regulatory inspections, including SHE, LOLER, PUWER and other compliance requirements.
- Support the development, monitoring and reporting of 5-6 week look‑ahead programmes, liaising with the supply chain and key stakeholders.
- Prepare and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements for directly resourced activities where required.
- Assist with the implementation and management of SHE management systems, including participation in audits and reviews.
- Plan and procure materials and plant to support site activities, ensuring efficient use and accurate stock control.
- Produce accurate as‑constructed drawings, including red‑line mark‑ups, for issue to the design team.
- Promote continuous improvement, sharing best practice across the project team and the wider business.
- Attend coordination, progress and programme meetings as required.
- Monitor and help drive health, safety and environmental performance across site activities.
About You
- Degree or HNC/HND qualified in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Good understanding of civil engineering principles and construction techniques.
- Exposure to civil engineering and / or MEICA construction environments.
- Experience supporting design management and technical coordination.
- Prior experience in frontline or project‑supporting site roles.
- Hold a valid CSCS card.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Desirable:
- Degree in Civil Engineering.
- ICE training agreement in place or working towards professional development.
- CAD competence.
