About the Role
We are supporting a professional services group looking for an immediately available Interim Payroll Coordinator to join their People Operations team during a peak period. You will manage payroll activity across seven agencies, working closely with internal teams and an external payroll bureau. This role is perfect for someone confident working with manual payroll processes, multiple data sources and high-volume monthly cycles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monthly Payroll
- Coordinate payroll across 7 agencies
- Collate changes, prepare submission templates and schedule payroll meetings
- Thoroughly check payslips and reports for accuracy
- Ensure CFO sign-off with a full audit trail
- Manage manual payroll data, internal finance liaison and bureau coordination
- Resolve employee payroll queries
- Starters, Probation & Onboarding
- Ensure new starter details are captured correctly for payroll
- Track probation reminders and collect completed documentation
- Benefits & Deductions
- Process changes for: Pensions, PMI / healthcare, Company cars & EV schemes, Cycle to Work, Other salary sacrifice deductions
- Leavers & Family Leave
- Process maternity, paternity, adoption and termination pay
- Ensure accurate daily rate and occupational pay calculations
- People Support Desk
- First point of contact for payroll-related queries
- Manage and categorise support tickets
- Escalate complex enquiries when needed
- New Agency Payroll Onboarding
- Support payroll setup, testing and month-one reconciliation
- Communicate with incoming employees
- Validate all salary, pension and deduction inputs
- Compliance & Systems
- Reconcile HRIS and payroll system data
- Maintain compliant records
- Support system updates and data maintenance
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong payroll administration experience
- Comfortable with manual payrolls and multi-agency complexity
- High attention to detail
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder skills
- Available to start immediately
Location: Leeds City Centre (Hybrid - 2 days office / 3 from home)
Contract: 2-3 months (Full Time)
Rate: Equivalent to £30,000 annual salary
