A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interim Financial Accountant to join a leading organisation in Leeds City Centre on a 6-month contract. This role sits within a high-performing finance team and will play a key part in delivering accurate financial reporting, strengthening controls, and supporting year-end activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare, post and reconcile journals and ledgers to ensure accuracy of monthly results.
- Deliver all month-end tasks to strict deadlines for internal and external reporting.
- Produce high-quality monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances and resolve issues promptly.
- Manage payroll postings and ensure deductions are paid to HMRC and other bodies within required deadlines.
- Maintain robust supporting documentation to meet audit and compliance requirements.
- Prepare year-end disclosures and financial statements for inclusion in the annual accounts.
- Ensure all financial controls are adhered to and properly evidenced.
- Identify anomalies or irregularities in financial data and take proactive corrective action.
- Support internal and external audits with timely, accurate information.
- Maintain high data quality across finance systems and processes.
- Develop and implement improved processes to strengthen the control environment and enhance reporting efficiency.
- Leverage Workday functionality to drive automation, consistency and better financial controls.
- Collaborate with Finance Systems teams to resolve issues and influence future system enhancements.
- Work effectively with stakeholders across the business to gather information, provide updates and influence adherence to timelines.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships across the wider finance function.
- Provide cross-cover for Accounts Payable processes when required.
- Support finance leadership on ad hoc projects, analysis and enquiries.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience Required
- Knowledge
- Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, particularly around financial instruments.
- Demonstrable experience maintaining data within a general ledger or financial system.
- Proven experience in IFRS reporting with exposure to financial services-related standards.
- Year-end disclosure and financial statement preparation experience.
- Workday Financials experience (highly desirable).
- IFRS reporting expertise.

- Strong Excel skills (modelling experience advantageous).
