About the Company
We are a well-established and growing multidisciplinary consultancy based in Norwich, offering integrated expertise across Building Services (MEP), Civil Engineering, and Architecture. As part of our continued growth, we are looking to strengthen our Building Services team with the appointment of a Senior / Principal Mechanical Design Engineer.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to take on a senior role within a collaborative MEP team. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality mechanical designs while supporting project leadership, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to client relationships. The role offers a balance between technical delivery, project leadership, and team development, with clear progression opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design of Building Services systems across a range of projects
- Deliver technically robust solutions from concept through to detailed design
- Take ownership of project elements, ensuring delivery on time and within budget
- Support and mentor junior engineers and technicians
- Collaborate closely with electrical, civil, and architectural teams on multidisciplinary schemes
- Attend client meetings and contribute to maintaining strong relationships
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practice
- Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation across the team
About You
- Proven experience in a Building Services / MEP consultancy environment
- Strong background in mechanical design (HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation systems)
- Experience working on a range of project types and values
- Ability to manage workload independently and contribute to project delivery
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members (especially at Principal level)
- Chartered status (or working towards) is desirable
