Interim Financial Accountant Hybrid | Up to 260 per day | Start Date: May 2026 (contract likely to last up to 9 months)
Hays are working with a large public sector organisation in the Edinburgh area who are seeking an experienced Interim Financial Accountant to support its finance function during a key operational period. This hybrid opportunity offers a balance of office collaboration and flexible home working.
The Role
As Interim Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reports, supporting both day-to-day finance operations and wider organisational objectives. You'll work closely with senior leadership and operational teams to ensure financial stability and informed decision-making during a period of change.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts.
- Support year-end processes, including audit preparation and liaison with external auditors.
- Produce accurate financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and ongoing cash‑flow management.
- Maintain and enhance internal financial controls and compliance frameworks.
- Partner with non‑finance stakeholders to interpret financial performance and provide commercial insight.
- Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and reporting.
