You will be joining a large-scale enterprise environment, supporting the development of automation solutions designed to streamline and enhance database operations.
As a Python Developer, you will be responsible for building scalable automation solutions and APIs that support database management operations and deployment activities. You will work across modern cloud-native and containerised environments, helping to improve efficiency, reliability, and operational effectiveness.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain automation solutions for database operations and rollouts.
- Build and integrate APIs to support database management operations and automation workflows.
- Troubleshoot automation issues across scripting, APIs and containerised environments.
- Containerise and deploy applications and services using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Administer Kubernetes resources, including Pods, Ingress, Services, Secrets and CRDs.
- Contribute to build, package, testing and deployment activities across CI/CD pipelines.
- Support secure software development practices within a highly regulated environment.
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong Python development experience.
- Hands-on API development experience using Python and FastAPI.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging and analytical skills.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience administering Kubernetes resources.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and software delivery processes.
- Experience working within Agile environments and using tools such as JIRA.
Desirable skills and experience
- Knowledge of observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana and OpenTelemetry.
- Experience with enterprise tooling including Control-M, TrueSight, Guardium, Tenable Nessus or Delinea.
- Exposure to HashiCorp Vault for secrets management.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL/PostgreSQL Database Administration.
- Knowledge of MongoDB/MongoDB Atlas.
- Experience working within highly regulated environments.
What you'll get in return
£400 per day via PAYE Umbrella. Hybrid working arrangement with 60% office attendance in Sheffield and 40% remote working. Contract running until 27/11/2026.
