Your new company is a Central Bath business.
Your new role involves being an ambitious finance professional looking to develop your accounting career within a busy, customer-focused hotel environment. We are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant to join the finance team of a well-established hotel business. This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll work closely with finance and operational teams, giving you excellent exposure to how a hotel operates commercially. This role is 100% office based, making it ideal for someone who enjoys being part of the day-to-day business, building relationships across departments and working in a collaborative environment.
The role involves working closely with the senior finance team to support the production of accurate financial information and help ensure the smooth running of the hotel's finance function. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting month-end management accounts
- Preparing and posting journals, accruals and prepayments
- Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations
- Bank and cash reconciliations
- Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reviewing revenue and investigating discrepancies
- Assisting with daily and weekly financial reporting
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting
- Monitoring costs and providing information to departmental managers
- Helping maintain strong financial controls
- Supporting year-end and audit requirements
- Working closely with operational teams across the hotel
What you'll need to succeed: You may already be working as an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant, or Finance Assistant looking for your next step. Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience within an accounting or finance team
- Good understanding of month-end processes
- Experience with journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
- Strong Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- A proactive and organised approach
- Confidence communicating with both finance and non-finance colleagues
- Hospitality, leisure or hotel experience would be advantageous, but isn't essential
- AAT qualified or studying towards your AAT would help
What you'll get in return: This is a great opportunity for someone who wants more than a purely transactional finance role. You'll gain broader accounting exposure while working within a fast-paced hospitality environment where finance is closely connected to the commercial operation. You'll join a supportive team with the opportunity to develop your technical accounting skills, gain valuable management accounts experience and progress your finance career.
