Teaching Assistant Required - Honiton & Ottery St Mary

Hays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in the Honiton/Ottery St Mary area to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and caring individual who is passionate about supporting children's learning and development within the classroom.

The role will involve providing general classroom support alongside delivering small group interventions to help pupils reach their full potential.

The Role

  • Support the class teacher in creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment
  • Work with pupils across the primary age range
  • Deliver targeted small group interventions in literacy, numeracy and other curriculum areas
  • Assist with classroom preparation and resource organisation
  • Encourage pupil engagement, confidence and independence
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents

What We're Looking For

We welcome applications from experienced Teaching Assistants as well as individuals with relevant childcare, education or support experience. You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working with children in an educational setting
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A patient, positive and nurturing approach
  • Confidence supporting pupils in small group activities
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A genuine passion for helping children succeed
