An established and highly regarded financial services organisation, based in Grimsby, are looking to recruit an experienced financial manager on a permanent basis. The business is part of a wider group and is recognised for its strong governance, long-term stability and specialist expertise in finance solutions.
A newly created opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ideally qualified individual to join the finance team based in Grimsby. Reporting into the senior leadership team, this is a key role responsible for leading the finance and treasury functions, delivering high-quality financial insight. You will play a critical role in supporting senior stakeholders with commercial analysis, strategic decision-making and financial governance.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Prepare and review statutory financial statements in line with IFRS and UK-adopted international accounting standards
- Maintain full balance sheet integrity, including complex reconciliations and judgement-based areas
- Provide technical accounting guidance and ensure robust documentation of treatments
- Review outputs produced by the Finance Team, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies
- Drive improvements in finance systems, reporting processes and data quality
- Act as the primary contact for external auditors, managing all audit interactions
- Lead audit planning, fieldwork coordination and delivery of required schedules
- Prepare supporting documentation and respond to technical audit queries
- Implement audit recommendations and strengthen internal controls where needed
- Support the preparation and review of corporation tax returns, VAT submissions, and other statutory filings
- Liaise with external tax advisors and regulatory bodies
- Ensure all tax reporting is completed accurately and on time, maintaining full compliance with HMRC and internal governance standards
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) or Part Qualified or QBE
- Proven experience in a senior finance role and strong IFRS knowledge, IFRS9 in particular
- Exposure to the financial services sector either working in practice or in industry
- Advanced Excel capability and confidence using Microsoft Office tools
- Experience working with finance systems, reporting tools and consolidation software
- High levels of accuracy, professionalism and stakeholder engagement
