You will be working with a leading international construction and infrastructure business with a strong presence in the UK energy sector. As a Freelance Project Engineer specialising in Overhead Lines, you will support the delivery of transmission projects across Glasgow and wider Scotland. You will play a key role in coordinating engineering activities on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Interpreting technical drawings
- Supporting site teams with engineering solutions
- Liaising with design teams to resolve queries
- Assisting with the preparation of RAMS and construction methodologies
- Monitoring progress and managing technical issues
- Ensuring compliance with HSQE standards throughout the project lifecycle
What you'll need to succeed:
- Proven experience as a Project Engineer on overhead line projects (ideally 132kV-400kV)
- Strong understanding of OHL construction methodologies including foundations, tower erection, and stringing
- Experience working with Tier 1 contractors or major infrastructure projects
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of UK safety and quality standards within the power or utilities sector
- Relevant qualification (HNC/HND/Degree in Engineering discipline)
- CSCS card (essential), with SMSTS/SSSTS preferred
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a freelance capacity
