Your new company A leading independent professional services firm is seeking an experienced Private Client Tax Compliance Senior Manager to join its growing tax team. Working alongside experienced tax specialists across multiple offices, this role offers the opportunity to manage a varied portfolio of private clients while helping to shape the future of a modern, technology-enabled compliance function. The firm provides services to a diverse client base including high-net-worth individuals, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, trusts and estates, partnerships, sole traders, farmers, non-resident individuals and seafarers. With continued investment in technology, people and service delivery, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced private client tax professional looking to take on a senior leadership role. Your new role Reporting to the Head of Tax Compliance, the successful candidate will take responsibility for managing their own portfolio of private clients, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring the timely delivery of tax compliance services. This will include overseeing personal tax returns, trust compliance matters, Making Tax Digital reporting requirements and related compliance obligations. Alongside portfolio management responsibilities, the role will involve reviewing work prepared by junior team members, supporting complex tax compliance matters and undertaking ad hoc advisory assignments including capital gains tax reporting, remuneration planning and trust-related work. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across the wider tax and business advisory teams to deliver an exceptional client experience. This is also a leadership-focused position, with responsibility for mentoring, developing and line managing members of the compliance team. The Senior Manager will play a key role in driving process improvements, embedding new technology and supporting the continued growth of the tax compliance function through both business development activity and client relationship management. What you'll need to succeed The ideal candidate will hold a relevant professional qualification such as CTA, ATT, CA, STEP or equivalent and possess significant private client tax compliance experience, including at least three years operating at Manager level or above. Strong technical tax knowledge, proven experience of managing a client portfolio and the ability to build and maintain trusted client relationships are essential. Applicants should also have previous people management experience, a commitment to developing junior team members and the confidence to undertake independent technical research where required. Experience of CCH Personal Tax software would be advantageous, as would strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
