Your new company is a well-known education institution based in the city centre of Glasgow, partnering with Hays to secure a content assistant on a 6-month contract basis.

Your new role: The Content Assistant supports the creation, management, and delivery of high-quality content across digital and offline channels. This role helps ensure that information produced by the organisation is accurate, accessible, user-focused, and aligned with public sector standards, organisational goals, and statutory obligations. The postholder works closely with communication teams, service leads, and subject-matter experts to help deliver clear and consistent content for stakeholders and internal audiences.

Your Duties will include:

  • Produce clear, concise, and accessible written content for websites, reports, newsletters, social media, and internal communications.
  • Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy, readability, and consistency with organisational style guides.
  • Adapt complex or technical information into plain language suitable for the audience.
  • Assist in uploading, formatting, and maintaining content within Content Management Systems (CMS).
  • Support regular content reviews to ensure relevance, accuracy, and legal compliance.
  • Monitor content performance and provide basic insights using analytics tools.
  • Liaise with internal teams to source information and develop content drafts.
  • Support collaboration across departments to ensure consistency and alignment of messaging.
  • Handle content-related queries and support colleagues in adopting content best practice.
  • Ensure all content complies with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.2) and public sector accessibility regulations.
  • Help apply user-centred design principles when structuring information online.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of content quality and user experience.
  • Support communication campaigns with content preparation and scheduling.
  • Maintain documentation such as content inventories, review logs, and publication timetables.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks related to the communications or digital team.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate complex information into plain English.
  • Experience using digital tools such as CMS platforms, Office 365, and collaboration software.
  • Understanding of accessibility and inclusive communication principles.
