A leading engineering and infrastructure organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator / Proposals Engineer to join its growing pre-construction team. Operating across major utilities and infrastructure programmes, the business has a strong pipeline of secured work and a reputation for delivering high-quality, innovative solutions for its clients.

As a Senior Estimator / Proposals Engineer, you will be responsible for developing accurate and commercially competitive cost estimates for a wide range of utilities and infrastructure projects. Working closely with operational, commercial, engineering and design teams, you will play a key role in shaping project solutions from concept through to tender submission.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing estimates and tender submissions for projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Reviewing technical specifications, drawings and project documentation.
  • Developing budget costs, target costs and detailed pricing proposals.
  • Identifying risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions.
  • Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain and evaluate quotations.
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams throughout the pre-construction process.
  • Attending project meetings and supporting bid development activities.
  • Ensuring submissions are completed accurately and within required deadlines.

Previous experience as a Senior Estimator, Estimator or Proposals Engineer within the utilities, infrastructure or engineering sectors is essential. You should have strong experience preparing tender submissions and cost estimates for complex projects, excellent commercial awareness and an understanding of project risk management. The ability to interpret technical information and develop practical, cost-effective solutions is crucial, along with experience working within multidisciplinary project teams. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously, excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, and proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications are also required. Experience working on mechanical and electrical projects would be highly advantageous.
