The Role: As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality mechanical building services designs across a variety of sectors, including commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments. You will lead projects from concept through to completion, working closely with clients, architects, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and specification of mechanical building services systems (HVAC, public health, etc.)
- Manage projects from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and handover
- Produce and review technical drawings, specifications, and calculations
- Attend client meetings and provide expert technical advice
- Mentor and support junior engineers within the team
- Coordinate with other disciplines (electrical, structural, architectural)
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK standards and regulations (CIBSE, Building Regulations, etc.)
- Contribute to innovative and sustainable design solutions
About You:
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in a building services consultancy environment
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design standards and best practices
- Experience using industry software (e.g. Hevacomp, IES, Revit, AutoCAD)
- Ideally working towards or already Chartered (CIBSE/IMechE)
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
