We are urgently seeking a Fire Watch Officer to support Emmanuel Community School while their fire alarm system is under repair. This is a critical safety role requiring vigilance, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular patrols of affected areas.
Ensure fire extinguishers are present, serviceable, and that exit routes remain clear.
Be prepared to alert emergency services and assist with evacuations in the event of a fire.
Use on-site extinguishing equipment for small fires if safe to do so.
Maintain a detailed log of patrols and any hazards observed.
Stay focused on fire safety duties without distractions.
Requirements:
Enhanced DBS certificate with Children\’s Barred List – essential due to working in a live school environment.
No CSCS / CPCS / NPORS certification required.
No driving licence required.
No occupational health check or fitness test required.
Not a night shift role.
Must have 6-point PPE including:
Safety helmet with 4-point chin strap
Safety glasses
Gloves
Unbranded high-visibility vest
Safety boots

Fire extinguisher training required.
Any other relevant fire safety or emergency response training is desirable.
Contract Length:
Temporary, with duration dependent on completion of fire alarm system repairs.
