The client base is broad and interesting, including sole traders, partnerships, UK limited companies, and multinational groups with UK subsidiaries.
Your new role as Accounts Senior involves managing a varied portfolio and taking responsibility for work from initial records through to accounts ready for review and sign-off. Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing statutory accounts to review / partner sign-off stage
- Accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Preparing corporation tax computations and returns
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Reviewing bookkeeping and correcting client records
- Completing accounts from incomplete or poor-quality records
- Working extensively with Xero (and associated apps)
- Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and obtain information
- Supporting and reviewing junior team members where required
- Working with managers on more complex or group entities
What you'll need to succeed:
- Proven experience within a UK accountancy practice
- Minimum requirement: ability to prepare a full set of statutory accounts for review/sign-off
- Strong experience reviewing bookkeeping and dealing with incomplete records
- Confident user of Xero
- Experience with corporation tax and VAT compliance
- Comfortable with regular client liaison
- AAT, ACA or ACCA (qualified or studying) welcomed, but practical experience is key
- Organised, commercially aware, and capable of working independently
