We're seeking an experienced HR professional to join a values-driven charity making a real difference to supporting vulnerable people across the South of England.

About the role: As a HR Lead Advisor, you’ll be the go-to expert for managers and staff alike, providing trusted advice, managing sensitive casework, and supporting the development of robust people practices. You’ll work closely with the HR Manager, contribute to strategic people initiatives, and play an active role in ensuring HR operations run efficiently, legally, and with a people-first mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • HR Advice & ER Casework: Provide expert advice to managers on all HR matters. Lead on complex employee relations cases including disciplinaries, grievances, and long-term absence. Liaise with legal representatives on high risk or sensitive issues.
  • Policy, Process & Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR policies and employment legislation. Review, update, and improve policies alongside the HR Manager. Identify opportunities for process and service improvement.
  • Coaching, Training & Development: Coach managers on policy, procedure, and effective people management. Support and deliver manager briefings and training. Identify learning needs relating to HR practice and employment law.
  • TUPE & Organisational Change: Support TUPE activity and tender-related HR processes. Assist in driving organisational change, embedding effective HR protocols.
  • Wellbeing & Benefits: Champion staff wellbeing and welfare. Contribute to benefit reviews and propose initiatives with a clear business case.
  • Systems, Data & Insight: Lead the day-to-day maintenance of accurate HR system data. Produce and analyse HR reports, KPIs, and management information. Support managers to use data to drive decision-making and improve compliance.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration: Line manages 2 HR Advisors and provides guidance on HR / ER matters. Work collaboratively on wider HR initiatives, projects, and strategic priorities. Deputise for the HR Manager when required.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualifications & Experience: CIPD qualified or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge through experience. Broad HR experience, including proven expertise handling complex and high-risk ER cases. Experience managing and reporting on HR KPIs, metrics, and insights. Experience of line managing staff, ideally within an HR team.
  • Skills & Knowledge: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trust. Confident in using HR systems and highly competent with IT tools. Strong judgement, able to manage sensitive and complex situations. Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to prioritise effectively. Up-to-date knowledge of employment law and best practice. Able to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Skilled at balancing organisational priorities with individual needs, aligned to legislation and policy.
