Working within a collaborative pre-construction team, you will play a key role in the preparation of accurate and competitive tenders for a diverse range of projects.The role would suit an Estimator, Assistant Estimator, Construction Engineer, Quantity Surveyor or Civil Engineering professional seeking to develop their career within a growing and technically challenging sector.Key Responsibilities- Assess and review tender opportunities to determine suitability for bid submission.- Analyse drawings, specifications and tender documentation to establish project scope and requirements.- Prepare conceptual, budgetary and detailed cost estimates for civil engineering and energy infrastructure projects.- Undertake site visits to assess access constraints, construction methodology, risks and project-specific requirements.- Collaborate with operational and project delivery teams to develop practical and cost-effective solutions.- Produce accurate take-offs, cost plans and tender pricing schedules.- Prepare and issue subcontractor enquiry packages and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.- Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and contract documentation.- Work closely with Health & Safety and operational teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.- Liaise with engineering and technical specialists regarding temporary works, structural solutions and design requirements.- Participate in tender review meetings and support the bid governance process.- Compile complete tender submissions, including pricing documents, bills of quantities, activity schedules and commercial proposals.- Assist in post-tender negotiations and contribute to the successful handover of projects to delivery teams.- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.- Support business development activities by identifying potential opportunities with existing and prospective clients.Candidate Requirements- Previous estimating experience within civil engineering, infrastructure, energy, utilities or construction sectors.- Good knowledge of construction methods, project planning and risk management.- Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings and specifications.- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project costs.- Experience obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations.- Excellent organisational and communication skills.- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tender deadlines.- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software packages.- Full UK driving licence.Desirable ExperienceExperience within any of the following sectors would be advantageous:- Energy infrastructure and power projects- Utilities and transmission networks- Highways and transport infrastructure- Bridge and structural refurbishment- Concrete repair and strengthening works-Temporary works and specialist engineering solutions- Water and wastewater infrastructure- Industrial and heavy civil engineering projectsBenefits- Competitive salary- Company vehicle or car allowance- Annual performance-related bonus- Company pension scheme- Private healthcare- Structured training and development programme- Ongoing professional development and career progression opportunities- Opportunity to work on major energy and civil engineering projects throughout the UKThis is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator looking to join a leading contractor with a strong project pipeline, long-term career prospects and exposure to a wide range of challenging and high-profile infrastructure projects. #4823391 - Cedric Fyffe
