Its sustainability initiatives include supporting UK reforestation efforts through dedicated carbon focused programmes, underscoring a long term commitment to reducing environmental impact.
As Environmental Compliance Specialist, you'll have the opportunity to genuinely shape the compliance landscape of a large group with complex supply chain networks. You'll work closely with an internal auditor, departmental heads, and a wide range of suppliers and stakeholders. This is a new position, created due to increasing environmental reporting requirements, sustainability expectations, and ongoing business growth.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and enhancing company wide environmental policies and procedures
- Supporting internal audits and working closely with the in house auditor
- Managing expanding reporting obligations: energy, GHG, carbon reduction plans, and supplier data
- Coordinating compliance with: Tax, accreditations and regulations
- Completing supplier code of conduct enquiries
- Supporting tender responses
- Working with sustainability partners such as the Woodland Trust (including carbon capture initiatives and planting days)
- Potential future line management as the team grows
What you'll need to succeed:
- Proven experience in environmental compliance within a manufacturing or similar materials based environment
- Knowledge of FSC/PEFC, timber regulations, EPR or similar frameworks
- Strong understanding of sustainability reporting, GHG, or energy compliance
- The ability to grow with the business, bringing both expertise and ambition
- Confident communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders across departments
- Backgrounds within paper, packaging, manufacturing, or distribution (Preferred)
What you'll get in return:
- £45,000 - £60,000 depending on experience
