About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrician to join our Estates team within a leading public sector university in Belfast. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic campus environment, supporting the maintenance and development of a wide range of academic, residential, and commercial buildings. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of electrical systems across the university estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive electrical repairs
- Install, maintain, and test electrical systems and equipment
- Diagnose faults and ensure timely and effective resolution
- Ensure all work complies with current regulations and health & safety standards
- Support minor installation and project work across campus
- Participate in an on-call rota to provide out-of-hours emergency support when required
- Maintain accurate records of work completed using job management systems
Essential Criteria
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
- Proven experience working as an electrician in a commercial or public sector environment
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence (or suitable alternative transport arrangements)
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working within a university, healthcare, or large public sector estate
- Testing & inspection qualifications (e.g., 2391 or equivalent)
- Knowledge of building management systems (BMS)
