Your new company Hays are recruiting for an experienced Compliance Officer to join a well-established Public Sector organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and detail-focused individual to support the delivery, monitoring and assurance of health and safety compliance programmes.You will take day-to-day responsibility for monitoring allocated compliance workstreams, maintaining accurate records and ensuring follow-up actions are completed within the required timescales. Your new role Key Responsibilities: Coordinate and monitor day-to-day compliance activity, ensuring inspections, servicing and remedial works are progressed within required timescales. Maintain accurate compliance records, trackers and forward schedules, keeping a close eye on upcoming deadlines and outstanding actions. Work closely with contractors and internal teams to coordinate appointments, access requirements and compliance programmes. Follow up on missed, cancelled or incomplete visits, ensuring appropriate action is taken to keep programmes on track. Maintain and review compliance documentation including certificates, inspection reports and supporting records. Identify gaps, inconsistencies or overdue information and liaise with the relevant teams or contractors to resolve them. Carry out regular checks and reconciliations to ensure compliance information remains accurate, complete and ready for audit. Prepare compliance reports, dashboards and updates, highlighting outstanding actions, exceptions and areas requiring further attention. Support audit and assurance activity by collating documentation and maintaining clear evidence trails. Track actions arising from inspections, audits, risk assessments and contractor reviews through to completion. Provide administrative support for compliance meetings, including preparing information, recording agreed actions and monitoring progress. Respond to compliance-related queries from customers, colleagues and external contractors in a professional and timely manner. Work collaboratively across different teams to ensure compliance requirements and actions are effectively communicated and managed. Support the ongoing improvement of compliance processes, reporting, record keeping and document management. What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience within compliance, asset management, health and safety, programme monitoring or another regulated service environment. You will be confident maintaining detailed records, trackers, databases and audit trails, with the ability to monitor deadlines, follow up outstanding actions and appropriately escalate areas of risk or non-compliance. Excellent organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail are essential, alongside the confidence to communicate professionally stakeholders.
