We are working with a leading manufacturer in Stoke-on-Trent who specialise in offering tailored solutions to protect critical infrastructure, data centres, and other high-stakes sites. With over 40 years of expertise, they are trusted worldwide for their robust and reliable products. The company is a large business, with over 125 staff and over £25 million per annum turnover. There is a large engineering team, both on and off-site, giving lots of opportunity to progress and develop.
As a draughtsman, you will be under the supervision of the Project Manager and you will be responsible for the preparation of equipment specifications and manufacturing/maintenance tooling drawings. You will apply a range of manual and electronic draughting skills to prepare paper and CAD specifications. Further responsibilities include:
- Produce CAD drawing and use of Solidworks programme.
- Use MS office software to produce paperwork and produce material requisitions.
- Customer liaison to obtain and give information where required and to present information accurately to both customers and workshop.
- Liaise with subcontractors and workshop and produce letters to customer/suppliers.
- Participate in stock take duties as and when required.
- Site measuring and testing.
- Preparation of the following product specifications to the highest standards:
- Installation, assembly, component and customer acceptance drawings.
- Parts Lists and Technical data specifications.
- Tooling specifications (tools, jigs, gauges and fixtures).
To succeed in this role, you will need to have a formal engineering qualification within Design / Mechanical Engineering, e.g. a recognised apprenticeship, HNC/HND or degree. You will have excellent communication skills with a flexible attitude to work and changing environment. You will be able to work in a team with minimal supervision and demonstrable engineering aptitude. As a design engineer, you will have both attention to detail and fault-finding skills, with the ability to write technical documents.
In return, you will receive an excellent salary of between £30,000 and £40,000. You will have the opportunity to progress and develop in a large, collaborative design team that’s growing and constantly winning new work.
