Your new company is an established and well-respected building services design consultancy with a long-standing presence in Northern Ireland, delivering Mechanical, Electrical, and Environmental Engineering solutions across the UK and Ireland. The Derry/Londonderry office is well embedded locally and is now entering a restructured growth phase, creating an opportunity for senior mechanical leadership to help shape its future direction. The consultancy is recognised for technical excellence, strong client relationships, and a collaborative, modern approach to MEP, BIM, and digital engineering.
Your new role involves playing a pivotal role during a period of structural realignment, providing stability, technical authority, and commercial leadership while helping to define the mechanical offering going forward. You will inherit an established operation, with scope to influence team structure, client engagement, and delivery strategy.
- Providing senior leadership for the mechanical discipline within the Derry/Londonderry office
- Playing a central role in the restructuring and future direction of the local team
- Acting as client lead for key accounts, maintaining continuity and strengthening relationships
- Ensuring high-quality, commercially sound delivery of mechanical projects from concept to completion
- Reviewing and approving mechanical designs, calculations, specifications, and reports
- Contributing to fee proposals, bids, workload forecasting, and resource planning
- Supporting low-carbon, energy-efficient, and sustainable design strategies
- Mentoring and developing engineers, helping to shape team capability and succession planning
- Working closely with Directors and senior stakeholders to align the office with wider business objectives
What you'll need to succeed:
- Degree or Master's in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
- Significant post-qualification experience within a building services consultancy
- Proven experience operating at Associate Director or Director level, or ready to step into that role
- Strong technical background combined with commercial and people-leadership capability
- Experience managing client relationships and contributing to work-winning
- In-depth knowledge of UK Building Regulations, British Standards, and best practice
- Confident, credible communicator with the authority to lead through change
- Proficiency in Revit and familiarity with tools such as IES (desirable)
