We are recruiting for a Sales & Customer Account Manager to join a successful and growing business based in Chesterfield. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys balancing customer service excellence with commercial awareness, sales support and account development.
Working closely with customers and internal teams, you will manage the full customer journey from enquiry through to fulfilment. You will be responsible for processing orders, preparing and following up quotations, identifying sales opportunities, providing updates on stock availability and delivery schedules, and ensuring customers receive an exceptional service at every stage.
This role requires a highly organised individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple priorities and is committed to building long-term customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage customer enquiries via telephone and email.
- Obtain, verify and process customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Transfer orders through to fulfilment and provide updates on delivery schedules.
- Explain stock shortages, expected delivery dates and back-order information.
- Produce, manage and follow up complex quotations to maximise conversion rates.
- Build strong customer relationships and deliver a high level of account management.
- Increase order values by recommending related products and services.
- Review customer purchasing history to identify opportunities for growth.
- Develop and qualify opportunities generated through marketing, field sales and national account teams.
- Monitor open order reports and proactively resolve issues affecting delivery performance.
- Maintain back-order reports and customer expediting information.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding order progress and delivery expectations.
- Report market trends, competitor activity and customer feedback to management.
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements.
- Work collaboratively with external sales teams to achieve business objectives.
About You:

- Previous experience within sales administration, account management, customer service or inside sales.
- Strong experience processing orders and managing complex quotations.
- Excellent customer engagement and relationship-building skills.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to identify upselling opportunities.
- Strong administration and organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience working within a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive and solution-focused approach.
- The ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to a wider team.
- Ideally with experience within a sales support, customer service or commercial administration environment.
What's on Offer?
Salary of £28,000 - £30,000. Permanent, full-time position (38.5 hours per week). Monday to Thursday: 8:30am - 5:00pm; Friday: 8:30am - 2:30pm finish. Flexible approach to lunch breaks. One day hybrid working per week following successful completion of a six-month probation period. 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays. Supportive and collaborative team environment.
