Risk Manager in Darlington

Join one of the UK's most exciting and pioneering projects - the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP) is developing onshore and offshore infrastructure needed to transport CO2 from carbon capture projects across Teesside and the Humber - collectively known as the East Coast Cluster - to secure storage under the North Sea. The infrastructure is crucial to achieving net-zero in the UK's most carbon-intensive industrial regions.

The Risk Manager will be responsible for maintaining and embedding NEP's Enterprise Risk Management Framework. The role will support business leaders in identifying, assessing and managing risks, ensuring that risk information supports strategic and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and continuously improve NEP's Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
• Coordinate the development and maintenance of corporate and functional risk registers.
• Facilitate risk assessments, workshops and risk reviews.
• Challenge and support risk owners in the management of risks and controls.
• Monitor emerging risks and changing risk exposures.
• Develop and maintain key risk indicators and risk metrics.
• Produce regular risk reports and dashboards.
• Support Executive Leadership and governance committees through effective risk reporting.
• Promote awareness and understanding of risk management across NEP.
• Deliver risk training and guidance to employees and contractors.
• Support the embedding of risk management into business planning and decision-making processes.
• Support development of the organisation's annual assurance plan.
• Work with the Internal Audit Lead to ensure audit plans remain aligned to key risks.

What you'll need to succeed:

• Strong understanding of enterprise risk management principles, risk assessment techniques, control frameworks and risk reporting.
• Ability to identify, assess and evaluate risks, analyse trends and develop practical mitigation strategies.
• Ability to communicate risk information clearly and effectively, influencing stakeholders to take appropriate action.
• Build strong relationships across NEP, shareholder organisations, service providers and contractor organisations.
• Skilled in facilitating risk workshops, challenging constructively and building consensus among diverse stakeholder groups.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate risk information and deliver high-quality reporting within agreed timescales.
• Understanding of strategic, operational, project and commercial risks within complex infrastructure, energy or industrial environments.
• Proactively identifies opportunities to enhance risk management processes while maintaining a pragmatic and proportionate approach.

Education and Experience:

• Relevant professional qualification, degree-level education, or equivalent practical experience in risk management, governance, project controls or a related discipline.
• Experienced in the use of Omega 365 Risk Module for the administration, monitoring, reporting, and management of project risks.
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in risk management, enterprise risk, project risk or governance-related roles.
• Experience in the energy, infrastructure, industrial or other highly regulated sectors; Oil & Gas background is beneficial but not essential.
• Proven track record of facilitating risk assessments, maintaining risk frameworks and supporting risk-based decision-making.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and industry standards relevant to large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.
