About the Opportunity
Hays are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing organisation for an Assistant Accountant position. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional looking to develop their career within a supportive environment and progress into a role with greater responsibility.
You'll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function, working across both purchase and sales ledger activities while gaining exposure to wider accounting responsibilities. Over time, you'll have the opportunity to take ownership of key financial processes and become an integral member of the finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the management of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Process invoices, credit notes, and payments accurately and efficiently.
- Reconcile supplier statements and customer accounts.
- Chase outstanding payments and resolve invoice-related queries.
- Complete bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist with month-end and year-end finance activities.
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Develop into a position with increasing responsibility for ledger management and financial controls.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience within a finance or accounts environment.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and finance processes.
- Experience using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
- Proactive attitude with strong communication skills.
- Eagerness to develop and progress within a growing finance team.
