Your new company Hays Education works with a range of Coventry schools looking for experienced and proactive SENCos to support their inclusion and SEND provision. Our partner schools include mainstream primaries and secondaries, specialist settings and academy trusts across the city. They are looking for people who can step in confidently, pick things up quickly and make a positive impact. You will be joining schools with supportive leadership teams, established SEND departments and a strong focus on making sure every pupil gets the right support.

Your new role As an interim SENCo with Hays, you will play an important part in maintaining and developing SEND provision. Depending on the school, your responsibilities may include:

  • Overseeing and coordinating SEND provision
  • Leading on EHCP processes, reviews and statutory requirements
  • Supporting teachers with differentiation, interventions and pupil progress
  • Managing and developing support staff
  • Working with external agencies, families and Coventry Local Authority teams
  • Ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice
  • Offering strategic support to SLT during periods of change or staffing gaps

Roles vary from short-term cover to longer interim placements, with both full-time and part-time options available across Coventry.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Strong experience as a SENCo or senior SEND practitioner
  • NASENCo qualification (or willingness to work towards it)
  • Solid understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Confidence in leading staff and managing caseloads
  • The ability to adapt quickly and provide stability when needed
