A leading IT infrastructure and services consultancy is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager with SC Clearance, working with a major defence client

Location: Hybrid (UK)- London/ Wiltshire

Overview

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Contract Manager to support the governance, commercial management, and ongoing optimisation of complex IT services contracts

This role sits at the heart of the customer lifecycle, working closely with Sales, Service Delivery, Finance, Legal and Account Management teams to ensure contractual obligations are met, commercial opportunities are realised, and contractual risks are effectively managed.

The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to both internal stakeholders and customers, helping to drive commercial performance while ensuring contractual compliance throughout the life of the agreement.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Governance & Commercial Management

  • Manage the ongoing governance of complex customer contracts and associated commercial documentation.
  • Maintain key contract management artefacts including Contract Guides, Contract Calendars, Change Control Logs, Risk Registers and other commercial controls.
  • Own the tracking and management of contractual obligations, ensuring commitments are allocated, monitored and fulfilled.
  • Ensure key contractual mechanisms including charging, service credits, relief events and change control processes operate in line with contractual requirements.
  • Draft and review contract change notices, contract amendments, statements of work, work orders and associated commercial documentation.
  • Support the maintenance of contract schedules, pricing schedules and commercial models where required.
  • Review pricing changes, milestone payments, indexation activities and contractual variations.
  • Ensure all contractual approvals and commercial decisions are managed in line with governance and delegated authority requirements.

Commercial Advisory

  • Act as the primary point of contact for contract-related queries from operational, delivery and sales teams.
  • Provide commercial and contractual guidance to stakeholders throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Support negotiations relating to contract changes, service expansions and new customer requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate contractual risks whilst maximising commercial opportunities.
  • Support account teams in understanding contractual commitments, liabilities and obligations.
  • Escalate complex contractual matters appropriately to legal and senior commercial stakeholders.

Risk & Performance Management

  • Maintain oversight of contract risk profiles and ensure mitigation plans remain effective.
  • Monitor contractual, financial and operational performance against agreed objectives.
  • Analyse the commercial impact of service performance issues and contractual deviations.
  • Maintain robust audit trails for significant decisions, customer interactions and contract amendments.
  • Support service improvement initiatives and contractual performance programmes.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with customer representatives, account teams and internal business functions.
  • Work collaboratively with Service Delivery, Finance, Legal, Procurement and Sales teams.
  • Participate in customer governance meetings, account reviews and commercial forums.
  • Deliver contract reviews and educate stakeholders on contractual obligations and commercial impacts.

Continuous Improvement

  • Capture lessons learned from contract delivery and support future bid and sales activities.
  • Provide feedback on commercial risks, opportunities and contracting practices.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of contract management standards, governance processes and commercial best practice.
