Freelance QS Required at Short Notice for Ongoing Major Projects
Your new company Hays NI are currently representing an established NI-based Building & Engineering contractor who are seeking to add an experienced Quantity Surveyor to their team. This firm is one of Northern Ireland’s leading medium-sized Civil and Building Contractors who specialise in delivering schemes across the province to both Private and Public Sector Clients. This company has offices based in Co. Tyrone & Belfast and have established themselves as an award-winning employer who already boast a growing order book for 2026 and beyond and have an excellent record of delivering projects across a range of sectors, including Education, Healthcare, Commercial, Leisure & Tourism, Community, Industrial and Utilities.
Your new role You will be responsible for all cost management related to the projects, achieving value for money whilst keeping costs low. You will monitor any changes to the contract that may affect costs and create profitability reports whilst ensuring the required standards and quality are delivered. You will possess a positive attitude with the ability to troubleshoot and implement key decisions, leaning on your construction knowledge and experience day-to-day. This role is initially on a temporary basis, aiding the commercial team on a rolling basis with a view to long-term work on a major project.
What you’ll need to succeed The ideal candidate will be degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying and have at least 5 years’ experience within a similar role. You will be commercially and contractually aware with a good working knowledge of construction and civils contracts. Additionally, you must be IT proficient and preferably demonstrate experience in the use of construction software packages. As this is a temporary role, you must be flexible on availability with a requirement to start at short notice.
