Proven experience upgrading Umbraco websites to version 17.2 - this is essential.
A large, forward-thinking organisation within the public and community services sector is undergoing a major digital transformation programme. As part of this, they are upgrading their Umbraco estate to the latest modern version to improve stability, performance, and long-term scalability. You will join a collaborative Digital & Technology team on a 6-month contract to deliver a critical upgrade project.
As an Umbraco Developer, you will take the technical lead on upgrading existing Umbraco websites and applications to Umbraco 17.2. This will involve:
- Analysing the current estate
- Creating upgrade plans
- Refactoring code
- Handling content and data migration
- Ensuring compatibility with modern .NET and Umbraco best practices
You will update document types, custom data components, dependencies, and API integrations, resolving any breaking changes introduced across previous versions. You will work closely with internal stakeholders across product, design, and QA to ensure a seamless delivery and provide clear technical documentation and handover support at project completion.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Proven and recent experience upgrading Umbraco websites to version 17.2 - this is essential
- Strong commercial background with Umbraco 10+ and modern .NET (6/7/8)
- Proficiency in C#, MVC, Razor, and dependency injection patterns
- Hands-on experience migrating content models, document types, data types, and packages - including replacing deprecated or incompatible components
- Solid understanding of Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployment best practice
- Ability to work autonomously, resolve complex technical challenges, and deliver within project timelines
- Strong communication skills and confidence collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
