My client is a well-established university based in a diverse part of London who are looking for a Procurement and Finance Officer to join their IT services team on an initial 3-month contract reporting to the Procurement and Finance Team Leader. The role is operating a hybrid model with Monday and Tuesday based in their newly refurbished office.

Your new role

You will be joining three other Procurement and Finance Officers on a full-time basis, providing high quality and responsive customer service towards customers that raise tickets within the Business Management function. You will provide advice and support to deliver high-quality, robust, resilient, responsive and secure customer-focused IT Services.

  • You will be using in-depth specialist knowledge of procurement and finance to recommend solutions to address complex issues and continually improve efficiency of service.
  • Process invoices, expense claims and interdepartmental transfers, supplier statement reconciliations, raise requisitions and processing through to purchase orders.
  • Provide advice and support on budgetary, financial and purchasing matters as required.
  • Deliver to defined Service Levels Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Create summary reports to be used by lead team and managers to support informed decision-making.
  • Manage and plan your own workload to deliver to agreed targets and timescales, using industry best practice methodologies to deliver value.
  • Make recommendations and provide proactive and pertinent input to technology sourcing and supplier management options as they relate to financial goals and plans.
  • Provide quotes and advice on purchasing, processing expense claims, interdepartmental transfers and any other financial advice as required.
  • Ensure that purchasing and ordering processes are in line with the IT sourcing strategy, making recommendations as appropriate.
  • Adhere to guidance ensuring alignment of purchasing and ordering of assets with ITS strategies, policies, and processes, including the Device Policy.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Experience using ticketing software
  • Experience using finance purchasing software
  • Experience within Procurement
  • Experience using MS Office at an intermediate level, including Excel.
  • Strong customer service skills as you will be liaising with the department's customers, which will include academics as well as external suppliers.

What you’ll get in return
