About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Chief of Staff to act as a key enabler for the Director of Procurement and Commercial. This pivotal role ensures the seamless operation and strategic alignment of Commercial and Procurement Services, translating the Director’s vision into actionable plans and driving delivery of critical priorities. You will lead cross-cutting projects, manage strategic communications, and oversee the Director’s Office to guarantee that objectives are met efficiently and effectively. Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior leaders to translate the Director’s vision into annual and quarterly business plans, tracking progress against key objectives.
- Resource Oversight: Manage functional budgets, headcount, and resource allocation to ensure priorities are funded and resources optimally deployed.
- Leadership Support: Act as secretariat for the CPS Leadership Team, setting agendas, capturing actions, and driving follow-up.
- Quality Assurance: Review all reports, briefings, and papers for the Director, ensuring they are high-quality, strategically aligned, and decision-ready.
- Performance Monitoring: Input into CPS performance dashboards, providing data-driven insights on savings, compliance, and social value.
- Representation: Stand in for the Director at internal meetings and with key stakeholders, representing CPS priorities.
- Communications: Draft impactful communications for diverse audiences, including elected members, senior management, and staff.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Oversee critical initiatives such as implementing the Procurement Act 2023 and launching new strategies.
- Executive Support: Manage the Director’s schedule and priorities rigorously, ensuring focus on strategic issues.
- Trusted Advisor: Act as a confidential sounding board, providing challenge and insight on complex issues.
- Culture Building: Foster a high-performance culture within the Director’s Office and across CPS.

- Proven experience in a senior strategic or business partnering role within a complex organisation.
