Role Overview / Day in the Life:

Position: Quality Planner (Project Quality Engineer)

Focus: Works on long-term projects (4–5 years before production)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in meetings with cross-functional teams (engineering, suppliers, internal stakeholders)
  • Lead advanced quality planning activities: Proficient in FMEA, Control Plans, SPC
  • Create inspection instructions
  • Design and check fixtures; collaborate with toolmakers
  • Oversee quality team: 3 Quality Planners (each supported by a Quality Specialist) 2 Quality Technicians (hands-on roles)
  • Support safety testing (e.g., TRW Autoliv)

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong ability to influence and communicate effectively in meetings
  • Confident in escalating issues and driving decisions
  • Automotive experience preferred (not essential)
  • Proven engineering background with New Product Introduction (NPI) experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience and an engineering degree
  • Familiarity with IQFMEA Control plans (currently Excel-based) moving away from Excel-based processes
  • Quality Planner defines specifications—requires strong technical understanding
