Role Overview / Day in the Life:
Position: Quality Planner (Project Quality Engineer)
Focus: Works on long-term projects (4–5 years before production)
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in meetings with cross-functional teams (engineering, suppliers, internal stakeholders)
- Lead advanced quality planning activities: Proficient in FMEA, Control Plans, SPC
- Create inspection instructions
- Design and check fixtures; collaborate with toolmakers
- Oversee quality team: 3 Quality Planners (each supported by a Quality Specialist) 2 Quality Technicians (hands-on roles)
- Support safety testing (e.g., TRW Autoliv)
Skills & Experience:
- Strong ability to influence and communicate effectively in meetings
- Confident in escalating issues and driving decisions
- Automotive experience preferred (not essential)
- Proven engineering background with New Product Introduction (NPI) experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience and an engineering degree
- Familiarity with IQFMEA Control plans (currently Excel-based) moving away from Excel-based processes
- Quality Planner defines specifications—requires strong technical understanding
