Your new company

We have a new opportunity to join this great business based near Kings Lynn. This site operates one of the world's largest and most advanced newsprint machines, producing up to 400,000 tonnes of newsprint, improved newsprint, and magazine grades each year using 100% recycled fibre. A dedicated on-site recycling operation supplies the waste paper required for production, providing collection and recycling services to both public-sector and commercial customers.

Your new role

The Electrical EC&I Engineer helps keep all electrical, control, and instrumentation systems on site safe, reliable, and running efficiently. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining, fixing, and improving EC&I equipment across the site. As part of the on-call rota, the engineer provides practical support during breakdowns and works to improve plant control systems and instrumentation accuracy. The role also contributes to improvement projects, including energy-saving initiatives.

  • Conduct fault-finding and diagnosis on electrical, control and instrumentation systems.
  • Carry out repairs, component replacements and modifications to restore plant functionality in a timely manner.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance tasks, inspections and statutory electrical checks as scheduled.
  • Provide technical support during troubleshooting and production-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports and documentation within the CMMS systems.
  • Support continuous improvement activities by identifying recurring faults and proposing corrective solutions.
  • Assist with safe isolation, testing and commissioning activities as required.
  • Use tools, materials and resources responsibly, ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Level 3 Electrical Engineering apprenticeship (or equivalent).
  • Good at diagnosing faults on electrical systems, motors, valves, and PLCs.
  • Basic understanding of sensors, transmitters, and control loops.
  • Confident with safe isolation and electrical safety procedures.
  • Able to test, maintain, and repair industrial electrical equipment.
  • Can complete clear and accurate maintenance records.
  • Comfortable working alone or in a team in a busy 24/7 environment.
