Your new role involves working within the Assessment and Intervention team at Southend Council as a permanent full-time Qualified Social Worker. A&I Social Workers are required to be in the office on duty week and participate in a backup duty rota during the two weeks between. This may require being on site for 1-2 days in those two weeks.

You will provide an efficient and cost-effective service to young people, ensuring their needs are assessed. Every young person will have a professional and comprehensive Pathway Plan and risk assessment completed. The position consists of assessing and supporting children and families in the local authority area, working under the support of CIN, CLA, CP, and including section 47 processes. You will work as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of a duty system and that cases are held and effectively assessed during this period.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
  • Completion of your ASYE.
  • Previous experience of working within Children’s Frontline services.
  • Knowledge of child protection, looked after children, and associated child in need social work practice.
  • Ability to analyse new cases and refer to the correct course of action.
  • A driving licence and access to a car.
